Internet Filter comparison with Snitch
Snitch picks up where the internet
filter leaves off. Snitch detects the files (pornography, etc.)
that can slip past an internet filter, or arrive on the computer
via some other method, including file sharing programs, CDROM, Floppy
disks, LAN, scanned images, digital cameras, ftp, newsgroups, email
etc. Internet filters are not designed to guard against all forms
of data transfer, particularly those not involving the internet.
Snitch detects and removes pornographic images, movies, internet
activity, obscene text in readable files, etc. It scans images for
the presence of nudity and sorts them according to likelihood of
obscenity. Internet filters are not intended to discover the existence
of files already present on a computer.
In addition, no internet filter is 100% effective. Snitch can detect
if a computer has been used for inappropriate purposes in a way
that no other software can.
